EDWARD LEWIS

Edward joined Garden House Solicitors in May 2024.

He qualified in 1997 and has specialised throughout his career in clinical negligence and personal injury claims. Edward has represented both Claimants and Defendants, giving him valuable insight into how both sides approach litigation—an advantage that has helped him achieve favourable settlements for his clients.

​

He focuses on high-value, complex injury claims arising from road traffic collisions, workplace accidents, and other serious incidents resulting in injury or death. His expertise spans both personal injury and clinical negligence matters.

​

Edward has experience in handling fatal accident and multi-party claims. Notably, he spent two years working on compensation claims arising from the Grenfell Tower Fire Disaster (June 2017), representing survivors, the bereaved, and families of those who died. He also acted for the family of a victim of the Croydon Tram Crash (2016), which culminated in a significant inquest in 2020.

In clinical negligence, Edward regularly deals with claims involving surgical errors, misdiagnosis, and delays in treatment—both in hospitals and GP practices—with a particular focus on cancer-related cases and surgical errors. He has handled multiple birth injury claims and, in 2021, successfully settled a £6 million cerebral palsy case, which involved over 10 medical experts.

Alongside his Claimant work, Edward has represented Defendants. He worked with NHS Resolution through a panel firm, advised the Government Legal Department on clinical negligence claims within the Ministry of Defence, and acted on behalf of the Medical Protection Society, representing GPs and consultants in private practice.

His experience on both sides of litigation allows him to collaborate effectively with opposing legal teams when representing claimants. He places a strong emphasis on early rehabilitation, believing that helping clients get back on the road to recovery is just as important as securing the best financial settlement.

Edward is a Senior Litigator member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). In 2017, he was elected President of the Kent Law Society, representing solicitors across the county.

Outside of his legal work, Edward is a trustee of a medical charity that funds treatments not readily available on the NHS. He has a daughter at university and enjoys living by the sea.
